Indoor position of android devices is something that many of developers are struggling to implement in a right way but to ease out developers, Cambridge firm CSR recently announced a indoor positioning Software Development Kit (SDK) for android developers which will be available in early 2015
With this SiRfusion SDK developers can now build applications which has capabilities such as indoor location tagging, e-commerce targeting, analytic for social networking, accurate distance monitoring, analyzing consumer behavior and many more as the possibilities are endless.
This SDK comes from a firm which has made the world thinnest keyboard, CSR says the SDK provides the accuracy of up to 5m in public building when tested. GPS can not be used for the indoor location as they can not provide the accuracy without the line of sight. To over come this problem CSR uses real time WiFi signals, satellite information and CSR cloud to enable indoor positioning. The system uses server client smarts and learns the WiFi signature as the people walk through the venue creating a perfect indoor location positioning system.
CSR also claims the system to be highly secure and says the location is calculated over client and provided to the application over a API, no data is been sent to the server and thus protecting the identity and making the system secure to use
CSR is a scalable framework which means with the new technologies coming in location positioning will also be considered in later build of the SDK. The SDK will be available for download in Q1 2015 and for more information about the SDK and resources you should visit http://www.csr.com/
